Coming This Month…
How to use the media to expand your practice
By Gibran Sepulveda, Clinical
Hypnotherapist
The media is the most direct
method to demonstrate to the world, in a substantial way, the benefits of
hypnosis and hypnotherapy.
In this session you will
learn how to contact and make an impression upon: television/radio producers, directors,
presenters, reporters, and personalities.
A hypnotist with a good
presentation will impact the feelings of a television/radio audience more so
than any astrologist or magician.
Do you ever wonder why some
hypnotists have absolutely no trouble putting people under hypnosis while
others find it most difficult?
You will learn how to be
successful in the media by breaking certain myths and fears such as:
·
Only 10% of people can be hypnotized.
·
Fear that your client/subject will say he is not
hypnotized.
·
Fear that you will not be able to hypnotize
someone that has asked you to.
·
Fear of performing in front of cameras or
microphones.
Make the media part of your
practice and take advantage of not paying a single cent for publicity, having
it pay for itself using only your abilities!
Bio:
Gibran counts on over 25
years of experience in the realm of hypnosis.
Ever since his adolescence in the early 1970’s ,he gained an interest in
paranormal phenomena such as UFO’s, the power of the mind, hypnosis, etc.
With hypnosis being his major area of interest, he obtained a certification as a Clinical
Hypnotherapist and Neuro-Linguistic Practitioner through the Wesland Institute
in Tucson Arizona. He also has a Master of Stage Hypnotism, certified by the
Jerry Valley Masters Hypnosis Training Productions and Ormond McGill in Las
Vegas, Nevada. Gibran is also an active member of the National Guild of
Hypnotists since 2007.
He has appeared many times
in various radio, television and other media outlets throughout Mexico and the
United States. His specialty is treating clients with addiction problems such
as drugs and alcohol, along with treating phobias and traumas. Currently host a
weekly hour-long radio program titled “A Voyage Inside Your Mind” every
Saturday.
Other experiences include

President, Robert J. O’Connor
called the meeting to order at 7 PM. Everyone introduced themselves and shared why
they attended the meeting.
Robert introduced Barney
Howell from the Attwood Institute for Research and Education, with a glowing
introduction that only a good friend can give. Then Barney proceeded to
enlighten us on the use of self hypnosis for pain management.
Barney gave us a great “cheat
sheet” covering a variety of ways to manage pain with hypnosis, as well as a
self hypnosis technique to teach our clients. Then he proceeded to move down
this cheat sheet and show or explain to us how each of these techniques works.
The presentation began with a
list of questions to discuss with a pain management client. It certainly was
not the first question many of us thought to ask, but really is the most
important to assess where the client is at. That #1 question is “Have you
received medical treatment?” Then we move on to other questions such as
medication and other therapies, when the pain began and the level of intensity.
Some of the various hypnosis protocols
discussed for pain management were pain as an object, symptom substitution,
guided imagery/visualization, distraction, control room therapy (varying the
pain in some way), passing through the pain (i.e. a magic mirror) and glove
anesthesia. The key is finding which
one(s) work best for the client. Of course, Barney had stories to tell as we
discussed each technique that kept us well entertained.
Barney then demonstrated his
self hypnosis technique and how he teaches it to clients. See the self hypnosis handout
at the end of the newsletter. Following the demonstration, he answered
questions.
After the presentation,
members announced their upcoming events. The meeting was adjourned at 9 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Debbie Gent, ASPH Secretary
